Pieces on tour

The day after tomorrow

creation 2023, duration 70 mn

Duo bringing together the German dancer choreographer Heike Schuster and Emmanuel Grivet, this piece brings into play the multiple relationships of two characters in a framework of everyday objects. Personal states, desire and momentum, past or dream encounters, complicity and indifference, create situations of proximity, distance, expectation or convergence. In a universe at first sight banal, but which over time drifts towards the ambiguous or even the absurd, the fine separation between ordinary and unusual is revealed.

This question then emerges: do we meet in the same space and at the same time? With the same intention, the same context? Or in different dimensions, disjointed times?

Le Cube, jukebox

piece for two to five dancers and 2 actors

creation 2009 - duration 60 to 90 minutes

This piece proposes, in the space of the street, in a museum, in a park, in a particular event… to put into play by the public itself, the work of the dancers

  • to know more

This version of the Cube takes up the principle of the jukebox, an essential element of the cafés of the 60s and 70s where the choice of a title from a selection offered, allows the consumer to trigger the broadcasting of music or a soundtrack, and here, a short associated dance.

Duo 1

creation 2013 - duration 25 minutes

Duo 1, is a man / woman duo, the story of a banal relationship, a love story no doubt, old perhaps...

Here too the questions of the common and the singular are at the heart of the matter.

Common of the staged situation, and universal of these images that speak directly to each of us...

However, the choreography, by playing on multiple moods and states, opens up to the diversity of emotions, to the ambiguity of situations, and to the singular and personal appropriation, by the spectator too, of the relationship that is played out on stage. .

Improbabilités et imposture

Improvised quartet, piece for a guest dancer and two spectators

creation 2003 and resumption of creation in 2008 - duration 20 minutes

Is the live performance the result of an approach or process? What is the work of "creating" a (dance) piece? How do we do?

Can we, should we, show manufacturing secrets, the intimacy of processes and recipes, know-how and creative paths?

  • to know more

Improbabilities and imposture is a possible (obviously wacky) answer to these questions: an improvised dance piece on the creation of a dance piece. For real. For this, Emmanuel Grivet proposes the meeting and bringing into play of four people who have no common experience, or even who do not even know each other, brought together for the occasion, and embarked by him on this improbable adventure. Utopia of the instantaneous which beckons, balances of the flesh and the soul which are exposed, tightrope walking, they lend themselves to the game, neighbor with fire, with laughter, with risk....

Parts in the repertoire

Résonnance(s)

solo 50 minutes - creation 2016

This solo by Emmanuel echoes his first play La Trajectoire du Fou (1993-94) and revisits the themes of identity and otherness more than twenty years later by confronting us with this question. : ultimately what do we know of a being? And, what do we really know about ourselves?

Simultaneously stripped of a course and a sum of accumulated experiences, the piece offers a summary of a dance passed through the sieve of the years.

Through an imaginary biography, Résonnance(s) presents a character in transition inhabited by existential reflections. The spectator led from traces to clues and from snippets to evocations discovers the canvas of this singular trajectory.

Voici (Here is)

Improvised piece for seven performers and three sculptures

created in 1999, recreated in 2003, 2007 and in 2016

duration 45 minutes

Here is. Five dancers without preparation, without decoration, just there exposed.

They carry their intimate history, their common memory, their links. Men, women, right there, with their laughter, their movements, their flaws; they meet, avoid each other, love each other, hurt each other and confront each other. Given to see, feet in the ground and dreams in the sky.

Here is a simple, unpretentious presentation of what is their story today, five dancers, a musician, a lighting designer, faced with the unexpected, the unknown, of a moment.

Here is. Aerial beings, transparent and dense, punctuate time. Mysterious and familiar presences, creatures from another world, from elsewhere, angels perhaps. They are always there, often invisible.

See: here, all come together sometimes, naked and luminous. Flesh and earth, music, the unspeakable: simply life.

Here is. For you.

Open space (trio)

creation 2013 - duration 25 minutes

Open space (trio) is a proposal for three dancers where the light gradually reveals all the possibilities of the encounter. The dance evokes the touches of everyday life, the singularity of trajectories and unfolds there in a fluid and fluctuating common journey.

The recurrence of routes, the continual return of simple events, meeting and lingering, ignoring each other, finding each other, getting lost and starting over again, create a haunting atmosphere, a permanently mobile space in which the dancers inscribe their paths, their singular presences, and together shape the living and sensitive "world" in which they evolve.

Faces

Piece for 6 multifaceted performers

creation 2012 - duration 50 minutes

One, two, five, ten, twenty...?

How many faces for an object? For one person ?

Depending on the angle of view, the position, depending on the light, the context, so many possible looks... Do sensitivity, interest, culture also change what is looked at? Coca-Cola, Al Jazeera, Sony, the same objects, the same references, the same ways in Barcelona, Mexico or Marrakech...

In Faces, artists of various origins and backgrounds travel around the question: identity, multiplicity or unity?

In its work around improvisation as show material, the company offers performances - creations, instantaneous compositions created for specific places or particular occasions. Flexible and original forms, these encounters with the public invite you to discover dance in unforeseen spaces and moments by letting yourself be surprised at the bend of everyday life. Each performance mixes written choreographic materials and improvisations related to the place invested and the circumstance proposed.

With these forms that can bring together from one to twelve dancers and one or more musicians, the company has invested in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Bordeaux, a dam in the high mountains, five ports in Corsica, urban public places...

La plage

choreographic disturbance created in 2003 - duration 1:00.

Notice of force 6 or 7 dance blow

from our correspondent on site MG

The local weather observation station announces a rather violent front of choreographic Disturbances concerning the whole city. Progressing in a north-south direction, it will be accompanied by summer temperatures and a zone of high pressure, especially on the busy axes.

  • to know more

Characterized by a sudden increase in bathing suits, by the spontaneous outbreak of parasols, deckchairs and bathers in unexpected places, by abundant precipitation of the public towards these places, this phenomenon causes changes in the circulation of people and vehicles on the public highway, unproductive moments of distraction, awkward gatherings. He can even lead the unwary onlooker into a session of tanning feet, or even into a game of badminton with no return. Persistent bursts of music may also be observed.

De bouts de corps en corps debout

Piece for forearms and necks, epidermis, elongations and tenderness

creation 2011 - duration 30 minutes

Digging into the flesh and under the skin of appearances, joining the moods, densities and secrets of standing man.

The human body in its contemporary representations is often fragmented, fragmented, rather than given to see in its organic and functional whole. Despite this, he does not allow himself to be reduced and nothing can constrain his fundamental unity: he is bipedal, centered and oriented, the place of action, of relationship and of presence in the world.
